The Toyota LandCruiser 79, 80 & 100 Series vehicles are fitted with one of two different regulators in the alternator; one with and one without a warning light circuit to drive a glow plug/control relay. Upon visual inspection they appear identical; incorrect installation will cause the dash warning lights to be illuminated. Traditionally this is resolved with the installation of a new unit.

To overcome this issue, OEX developed an alternator with  starter with an innovative regulator, which changes functions with the simple addition or removal of a screw.

The Toyota Prado, HiLux and HiAce with KDH and KUN Series engines can be fitted with one of two different regulators in the alternator. Upon visual inspection they appear identical; incorrect installation will cause the Battery Indicator light to be illuminated and within a week, the unit will stop charging the vehicle.
